About the Makers
All of our “Snacks & Sips” support individuals in the US who are overcoming challenges like trafficking, homelessness, abuse, and addiction. This support comes through dignified work and community supports provided by our partner workshops, including the following:
Women’s Bean Project is a Denver-based nonprofit social enterprise that empowers women facing significant barriers to employment—such as chronic unemployment, incarceration, or addiction—by providing transitional job training and wraparound support. The women build skills through employment in their food manufacturing business and engage in a 6–9 month program that includes full-time paid employment, life skills classes, and personalized career coaching. Through this holistic approach, Women’s Bean Project not only provides immediate income but also fosters lasting change, helping women build stable futures for themselves and their families.
Hon’s Honey is a transformative social enterprise dedicated to empowering women survivors of trauma—including addiction, trafficking, generational poverty, and abuse. As a proud employment program of the non-profit The Well, Hon’s Honey offers their women makers a path to healing and purpose through meaningful work and comprehensive support.
Each gift represents a step towards financial independence and personal restoration for the women involved. Through a holistic life development program, participants gain access to counseling, workshops, and a nurturing community. This support system helps them build skills, regain confidence, and achieve stability. Your purchase not only supports their craft but also helps them rebuild their lives, turning their experiences into powerful stories of recovery and hope.
1951 Coffee Company provides job training and employment to refugees, asylees, and special immigrant visa holders in California while educating the surrounding community about refugee life and issues.
Homeless Garden Project is a nonprofit organization based in Santa Cruz, CA, dedicated to providing job training, transitional employment, and support services to individuals experiencing homelessness. Through its organic farm, the project offers a therapeutic environment where participants engage in sustainable agriculture, gain valuable work experience, and build a sense of community. The farm’s produce is distributed via a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and sold at local markets, with proceeds supporting the organization’s mission. Additionally, the project offers volunteer opportunities and educational programs to foster community engagement and awareness.
Thistle & Bee provides a safe, healing work environment for women survivors of trafficking, prostitution, and addiction, offering them meaningful employment and comprehensive support services. Through their beekeeping and handcrafted products, women gain job skills, financial independence, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives with dignity.
Beautiful Day builds onramps to employment and economic self-sufficiency for refugees. By aligning job training with consumer demand for socially conscious products, they develop practical, efficient, community-oriented ways to integrate and welcome refugees into our society.
