Peace by Piece International works with over 30 nonprofit partners and social enterprises selected specifically for their direct impact on people’s lives.
This gift provides new beginnings for underserved communities through this partner organization Jaggery is a women-led social enterprise based in Gurgaon, India that converts industrial waste material into a range of upcycled bags and totes. The organization is founded on the principles of sustainability, fair trade, and global citizenry.
Jaggery proudly aligns its goals with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. Through its custom logo duffel bags and accessories, Jaggery develops solutions to counter the world’s pollution problems. By using discarded car seat belts and buckles, punctured bouncy castles, decommissioned defense-grade canvas, army tents, and parachutes, Jaggery helps to keep industrial waste out of landfills and reduce its carbon footprint. All components and hardware (i.e. zippers, pulls, clips) are new and top-of-the-line (YKK, ITW Nexus, Duraflex). They have now also introduced their Good Collection line in partnership with The Good Felt that recycles some of the thousands of kilotons of post-consumer textile waste created in India each year.
