About the Makers
This gift box supports two Peace by Piece International partners:
Itza Wood creates jobs and fosters positive social impact by creating local, sustainable employment in the Petén Jungle of Guatemala — one of the most important biospheres on Earth. Their carpenters live in local communities where families are struggling to ensure basic human services. Through dignified word, they have the opportunity to improve their lives and the lives of their families. Itza Wood has planted over 45,000 trees to combat deforestation in the area and only use sustainably harvested and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified wood.
Women for Women International supports the most marginalized women to earn and save money, improve health and well-being, influence decisions in their home and community, and connect to networks for support. By utilizing skills, knowledge, and resources, she is able to create sustainable change for herself, her family, and the community. Women are brought together in a safe space to learn life, business, and vocational skills, allowing them to be the sole supporters of their families. Graduates receive assistance in expanding their business with economic training and support.
