This holiday season, our clients’ collective impact is already far-reaching. To date, these organizations have ordered nearly 2,400 handmade products that we source from our partner workshop, the Homeless Garden Project — an organization that creates new pathways for people experiencing homelessness through dignified work and community supports, allowing them to rebuild their lives and build stable futures.
One of those lives is Kelli’s.
From Hardship to Hope: Kelli’s Story
Kelli lived through years of homelessness and addiction, carrying a heavy burden of shame and hopelessness. When she joined the Homeless Garden Project, she was amazed to find that they weren’t just offering work, they were also offering the belief in her ability to thrive.
“The staff at the Homeless Garden Project didn’t just teach me skills — they believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself,” Kelli shared. “They gave me a chance when no one else would.”
Through hands-on work in the garden, Kelli found structure, healing, and purpose. Today, she’s sober, employed full-time at New Leaf Community Market, and rebuilding her life — reconnecting with her family and her sense of pride.
“I have a job that gives me pride and purpose. And most importantly, I have hope — something I thought I had lost forever.”
