Every handmade gift begins with a person. A woman showing up to work, using her skills, and contributing to her household and community.
Through our artisan partners, women create the gifts our clients share with their teams and stakeholders. In return, this work offers dignity, consistency, and the opportunity to move forward—often in small but meaningful ways.
These are a few of the stories behind the work, showing the difference that corporate gifts with purpose can make in the lives of women worldwide.
A Place to Call Home
2025 saw an order of 250 handmade ornaments from our partner workshop in Alabama, where women who have suffered abuse, addiction, and homelessness have found safe and dignified work, community, and hope.
As a result of this order and the ability to earn consistent income in a safe and supportive environment, one artisan is preparing to move into her first apartment—an important milestone that represents independence, security, and hope for what comes next.
For her, dignified work isn’t just about income. It’s about the confidence to plan for the future.

Earning Her Education
For many women in our partner communities, an education is something that often feels out of reach.
Leti, who helped make over 200 gift bags for one of our client’s holiday orders said:
“I started [here] as a student…and I was happy because I didn’t have any certificate or even know what educational level I had reached. I only knew how to read and write, and now I am happy because I entered first grade and now, thank God, I am going to graduate from third grade.”
Education opens doors and, importantly, offers hope for a better future in a community where gender dynamics often keep women down, unable to leave situations that can be dangerous at worst, and repressive at best.

Opening Doors of Opportunity
Akhtari was relegated to housework in order to provide for her family in India, a place where work for women is very limited and gender roles can be inflexible. With our partner workshop, she takes pride in learning new skills in pattern cutting and stitching and has their support in being able to bring her three-year-old to work. She is valued not for just for speed or volume, but for craftsmanship, creativity, and care.
Creating beautiful, high-quality goods allows women like Akhtari to be recognized for their skills—and to take pride in work that reflects their talent and drive.

Breaking Generational Chains of Poverty
Karla started by cleaning bottles with our partner workshop, Grønn, and has worked her way up to overseeing operations and communications. When asked how this work has impacted her life, Karla shared:
Grønn has impacted my life mainly by awareness of all the waste thrown away daily. But another important aspect is that thanks to the opportunities they’ve given me, I’ve been able to climb step by step. Also the flexibility in the schedule has allowed me to continue my university studies, as I’m the first in my family to pursue this important aspect of a professional career.

Finding Purpose and Peace
For Wilma of Guatemala City, in a community where women are relegated to digging through the city dump in an attempt to provide for their families, facing dangers of many kinds, her work with our partner workshop meant far more than just a paycheck.
“mi eelo has heavily impacted my life; it’s changed everything for me. I used to be a very sad woman. But now, I feel happy seeing everything that’s done here at mi eelo….everything that’s accomplished, everything that exists, and what we can achieve in the future.”
Flori, another artisan who has found relief from the same dangerous work, told us:
“There are many women outside who need psychological support, and…and here, they receive that help, as well as the jobs they need to improve their lives. Our work speaks for us, so we’re thrilled about big projects. I love seeing people come here, looking for help, and finding a job that sustains their home. Many are single mothers and these companies give us the opportunity to earn a living here.”

Partnership, Not Charity
These stories are not about charity.
They are about partnership, dignified employment, and long-term impact.
When companies choose gifts that are handmade and values-aligned, they aren’t just checking a box or meeting a deadline. They’re investing in women who are building livelihoods, supporting families, and shaping their own futures.
We’re grateful for every organization that chooses to gift with purpose, creating opportunities that last far beyond the moment a gift is given.
