About the Makers
This gift box supports three Peace by Piece International partners:
The Homeless Garden Project is a nonprofit organization based in Santa Cruz, CA, dedicated to providing job training, transitional employment, and support services to individuals experiencing homelessness. Through its organic farm, the project offers a therapeutic environment where participants engage in sustainable agriculture, gain valuable work experience, and build a sense of community. The farm’s produce is distributed via a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and sold at local markets, with proceeds supporting the organization’s mission. Additionally, the project offers volunteer opportunities and educational programs to foster community engagement and awareness.
Women’s Bean Project is a Denver-based nonprofit social enterprise that empowers women facing significant barriers to employment—such as chronic unemployment, incarceration, or addiction—by providing transitional job training and wraparound support. The women build skills through employment in their food manufacturing business and engage in a 6–9 month program that includes full-time paid employment, life skills classes, and personalized career coaching. Through this holistic approach, Women’s Bean Project not only provides immediate income but also fosters lasting change, helping women build stable futures for themselves and their families.
1951 Coffee Company is a nonprofit specialty coffee organization that empowers refugees, asylees, and Special Immigrant Visa holders through barista training and employment. Based in Berkeley, CA, it provides job skills, English support, and a path to economic self-sufficiency, while fostering community connection through its welcoming cafés.
