These pouches come from our partnership with Ubuntu — a social enterprise in Kenya. Ubuntu works with nearly 800+ Maasai craftswomen, creating a broad range of handmade products in Kenya, sourcing materials locally and making their handcrafted products in their own studio in Maai Mahiu, allowing them to control and optimize every element of the production process. This allows them to pass their cost-savings and profits on to their empowered Makers, investing in their well-being and that of the local community.
Through 150+ part- and full-time jobs, Ubuntu provides their Makers with sustainable employment, health insurance, and a living wage well above the standard income for the Maai Mahiu area. Additionally, they support 350+ children living with special needs through their primary impact partner and sister foundation, Ubuntu Life Foundation.
